What’s New in Easy Forms for Mailchimp 6.4

Easy Forms for Mailchimp version 6.4 is a major release, containing new features and saying goodbye to old ones.

Here is a rundown of changes in Easy Forms for Mailchimp version 6.4

New Features

  • Gutenberg support – “Gutenberg” is the name of the project to create a new editor experience for WordPress, coming out this year in WordPress 5. We added the beginnings of Gutenberg support to the plugin to simplify adding a Mailchimp form block to a page. As Gutenberg evolves, our integration with it will, too.

  • Version 3.0 of the Mailchimp API – When we migrated to Version 3.0 of the Mailchimp API last year, there were still a few functions in our plugin not yet supported by the 3.0 API. Since then, nearly all of the functionality provided by our plugin exists in the 3.0 API. With this release, all functionality is on version 3.0 of the Mailchimp API, and 2.0 is no longer supported. A couple non-essential items have been removed from the plugin which are listed below.


  • Integrations – You can now sign up opt-in checkbox integrations (i.e. Comments, User Registration, Contact Form 7, WooCommerce, etc.) to multiple lists and interest groups at a time.
  • Custom Messages – We added the ability to customize the update profile email message.

Retired Items

  • Deprecated Mailchimp 2.0 API items – There are a few things not supported by the Mailchimp 3.0 API that we removed from the plugin:
    • ChimpChatter Dashboard widget – Users let us know this wasn’t very useful anyway.
    • The Account Overview Page – Emails left, Account Active indicator, and the Affiliate link box were no longer supported, so we moved the remaining items to the “Mailing Lists” page. This streamlines all of your account information to one page.
  • The Welcome Screen – This wasn’t very useful and was difficult to maintain.

Announcing Custom Product Tabs Pro!

YIKES has a great community of folks using our Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce plugin which allows them to add more tabs to their WooCommerce products. The number one request was the ability to add saved custom tabs to multiple products at the same time. We created three ways to accomplish this.

Add Saved Custom Tabs to Multiple Products Easily

1. Global Tabs

Checking the Global Tab checkbox on a saved tab will add that tab to all of your products.

2. Category/Tag Tabs

Tabs can be added to products by categories or tags. Start typing the category or tag you want and it will autofill. Any categories or tags selected will now have that tab assigned to it.

3. Bulk Editing

Saved Tabs can also be added to products using the WooCommerce bulk edit feature. To use this feature, check off all of the products you would like to edit at the same time on the products list, choose Edit from the Bulk Actions drop-down menu and click the Apply button.

In the bulk editor, you’ll find a Saved Tabs box where you can check off the tabs you want to add to the selected products.

When viewing a saved tab in the admin, you will see a handy list of all the products that tab is assigned to.

By default, custom tab content is not included in the WordPress or WooCommerce search. With Custom Product Tabs Pro you can change that using the search settings.

Tab Titles

Another request we have gotten repeatedly is for users to have the ability to remove the title of the tab from the tab content itself.

Some people find this redundant, and we have helped them in the forums with CSS or a filter solution. Now with Custom Product Tabs Pro, you can remove them with a click.

New Add-On: Popups for Easy Forms for Mailchimp

By far, the biggest feature request we have gotten over the years has been the ability to load Mailchimp forms in a popup window. Popup subscription forms have been proven to greatly increase subscriber rates and our users want them.

We are happy to announce we have listened to your requests and we have released Popups for Easy Forms for Mailchimp!

  • Load Mailchimp forms in a pop-up or slide-in window.
  • Set popups to appear when the user arrives at a page or when they leave a page.
  • Choose from several popup animation styles.
  • Set the number of seconds before a popup appears.
  • Add content before and after a form in the popup window.
  • Set the pop up to display on all pages or specific pages or posts.
  • Choose to display popups only under certain conditions, like logged in users, desktop users and more!
  • Set the aggressiveness of popups and how often a popup will display for a single user.

What’s New in Easy Forms for Mailchimp v6.0.4 – v6.0.5

We’ve been busy adding new features and fixes to Easy Forms for Mailchimp! Here are some highlights.

Email Verification for Profile Updates

We’ve always allowed users to update their profiles when they try to sign up with email matching an email already subscribed to a list. However, this poses a security issue if someone uses another person’s email address on a form.

We added email verification to the process. Now if someone enters an email address that is already subscribed to the list, they will see a message asking them to click to send an email with a link to update their profile:



We’re always trying to make our forms better and better for multi-language use. We made a ton of improvements to the way special characters display in forms, the way addresses are displayed and the strings to better translate the plugin itself.

We have 7 language packs so far, if you’re a polyglot, please consider helping translate the plugin into your language. It’s easy via Glotpress.

Permanently Fixed SSL Errors

Some users were experiencing issues with forms on SSL. With the help of our users, we were able to put this issue to rest once and for all! We completely re-wrote the way the plugin connects to Mailchimp which not only resolved these issues, but it also decreased the overall plugin size by 200+ kb!

The Ultimate Guide to Translating Mailchimp Forms on WordPress Sites

With Mailchimp and our free WordPress plugin, Easy Forms for Mailchimp, translating Mailchimp forms on WordPress sites into any language is easy!

Step One – Set Field Labels in Mailchimp

Field labels are the text next to or above each form field. To change the wording of these fields, log into your Mailchimp account and do the following.

  1. Click on Lists and click on the list you want to make a form for.
  2. Click on the Settings tab and choose “List fields and *|MERGE|* tags”
  3. There you will see each of your list fields. In the Field label and type column, enter the text you want for each field and hit the Save Changes button when you’re done.

Step Two – Translate the Submit Button

After you’re done editing your labels in Mailchimp, and you’ve used our plugin to add those fields to a form, in the Form Builder, click on Form Settings.

Under the Submit Button section, enter the submit button text you wish to use and hit the Update Form button when you’re done.

Step Three – Translate the Custom Messages

In the Form Builder, click on Custom Messages.

There you can translate all of the messages users will see when they interact with the form.

Voilà – You have a translated form!

Bonus Step – Translate the Placeholder Text

You may wish to use placeholder text (text that appears inside the field before the user clicks on it) in addition to, or instead of field labels.

To translate this text click on a field in the Form Builder to expand it.

In the Placeholder field enter the placeholder text you wish to use.

If you only want to use placeholder text and not field labels, click the Hide Label checkbox.

Make sure you click the Update Form button after you edit all of your field options.

What’s New in Easy Forms for Mailchimp v6.0.3.8

On January 29 we released version of Easy Forms for Mailchimp and it’s packed full of new features and fixes!

All New Form Settings Page

We added a new section to the Form Builder called “Form Settings” with settings you can adjust on a per form basis.

There you will find new options for the submit button, form tag and more!

One option we know people are going to love is Inline Forms. We’ve gotten a lot of requests from folks to have their form fields display horizontally instead of vertically. Now you can do that with this setting:

New Shortcode Options

Users can now specify if they want a form to display inline by using the inline=”1″ parameter in the shortcode.

Whoops, it looks like you forgot to specify a form to display.

The shortcode parameter will take precedence over the form setting.

Custom Descriptions
Inspired by a suggestion from one of our users, we added a new custom description parameter to the shortcode.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the typo in our check box integration filter from yikes-mailchimp-checkbox-integration-subscibe-api-request to yikes-mailchimp-checkbox-integration-subscribe-api-request.
  • Added missing $charset_collate variable when creating the database tables – which caused encoding issues with a few foreign characters.
  • Fixed foreign language character encoding, and storing in database as question marks.
  • Fixed date formats not storing properly when adding a date/birthday field to your form.
  • Fixed the form editor being hidden on medium-width screens.
